\u2018Stop Making Sense\u2019 is the soundtrack to a concert film about Talking Heads, directed by Jonathan Demme. Demme has directed 3 concert films about Neil Young, but his most acclaimed concert film is \u2018Stop Making Sense\u2019.<\/p>\r\n
In terms of the musical performance, it\u2019s nothing out of the ordinary, insofar as it\u2019s Talking Heads being a very good live band. Several of their big hits are included: \u2018Psycho Killer\u2019, \u2018Take Me to the River\u2019, \u2018Life During Wartime\u2019, \u2018Once in a Lifetime\u2019, \u2018Burning Down the House\u2019.<\/p>\r\n
What you don\u2019t get from the record is what made the film iconic: David Byrne\u2019s oversized suit. The suit is so iconic, in fact, that it even exerts an influence over artists now. The video for British band the 1975\u2019s (very catchy) 2018 single, \u2018It\u2019s Not Living (If It\u2019s Not With You)\u2019, is an homage to \u2018Stop Making Sense\u2019 that even includes a dream sequence in which the singer appears onstage in the same oversized suit worn by Byrne in \u2018Stop Making Sense\u2019.<\/p>\r\n
\u2018Stop Making Sense\u2019 is widely regarded as one of the greatest concert films ever made. It was rereleased in IMAX cinemas in late 2023, as was the soundtrack album, with the full concert included for the first time.<\/p>\r\n
