Starting with a base track of drums (Dennis Davis), bass (George Murray), guitar (Carlos Alomar) and piano (David Bowie), one by one Visconti isolated the mixed synthesisers played by Brian Eno, string synthesisers played by Bowie, three combined tracks of guitar feedback played by Robert Fripp, and a Chamberlin played by Bowie, and showed how they are all present somewhere in the final mix of \u2018Heroes\u2019. Visconti also explained how he achieved the increasing strain and volume in Bowie\u2019s vocals by setting up three microphones at different distances and with a \u2018gate\u2019 setting, which required a certain volume to be activated.<\/p>\r\n <\/p>\r\n This EP, released in 1980, has two other versions of \u2018Heroes\u2019, with lyrics translated by Bowie into French (\u2018H\u00e9ros\u2019) and German (\u2018Helden\u2019), along with album track \u2018V-2 Schneider\u2019.<\/p>\r\n <\/p>\r\n \u2018Heroes\u2019 has been used in countless movies, television programmes, and sports events.
